Charity work supported by the Oslo Marathon 2010
Inclusion of Children with Disabilities in Track and Field
Sportsklubben Vidar arranges a Track and Field School at the Bislett and Stovner stadiums in Oslo the first weeks of summer vacation.
Our goal with this track and field school is to introduce track and field events to children and youths in a fun way. Here the children get to try their hand at all the traditional track and field events with a strong emphasis on fun and games. This track and field school is open to all children 7 – 12 years of age.
We want to encourage an active lifestyle regardless of culture and physically challenge. This track and field school is the first step in our goal to offer a permanent program for these groups.
After completing the track and field school the disabled children will have the opportunity to participate in our child and youth training groups from summer/fall 2010. A natural aspiration for these children will of course be to compete in one of the distances of the Oslo Marathon on the 25th or 26th of September, 2010.

Track and Field for Everyone
SK Vidar has started a program to include children with physical and/or visual handicaps in track and field training. This project is starting in 2010. Children with a handicap are encouraged to enroll in our summer Track and Field School, and can also participate in our regular youth training groups.
To reach our goals we need support and we ask you as a fellow Oslo Marathon runner to help us in our work. The money goes toward hiring and training coaches in the special needs of these children.
We are one of 27 organizations who in 2010 will receive support from Stiftelsen Helse og Rehabilitering (The Health and Rehabilitation Organization) to offer this sort of program to children and youths. Helse og Rehabilitering is an umbrella organization of 27 volunteer organizations who receive funds from the profits from Extra-lottery. These profits go to the volunteer organizations’ health improvement projects.
